You have always felt like you, and always will feel like you. But what are you?
Thoughts come and go, feelings come and go, the world comes and goes, but your sense of self remains.
Even the body which you inhabit is never the same and has a completely different set of cells every 7 years.
Yet the sense of self, the simple sense of being, the knowingness that you exist never changes.
If the same blank awareness is there in different set of bodies, then perhaps that same consciousness is universal, existing in all beings, which would make 'you' a being a part of a greater whole. This corresponds with what the eastern religions have been saying for thousands of years which we can supposedly experience directly in meditation (known as ego death or oneness with God/All That Is).
